Pink & Red Beauties on Display

This is a painting I really had to spend a lot of time on.  It was done on a half sheet.  Size is 30"w x 23" framed and double matted.

This is a multi-media painting.    Just experimenting a bit.

Sunflowers to Brighten the Day

This is a painting I did from a photo belonging to Diane Morgan

I love the brightness and punch of color offered up by these beauties.

In this painting, I was experimenting with 'brusho',

a different form watercolour.  It can be quite exciting to see what happens once you spray your handy mister and colors spread around and into each other.  Then you can play with your brush and water color to create some really vibrant paintings.  Will try more paintings with

this.

I painted this from suggestions made in a workshop I attended.  The drawing and painting were mine from her demonstration, but the idea, theme, suggestions, and techniques were certainly given by the Painting instructor, Rose Edin.  It's such an honour to have international artists come to our workshops to share their talent and give us all inspiration!  This is quite a large painting.

This painting of magnolia blossoms was drawn from a photo of Moira Johanneson's collection.   Moira is an art teacher at the

Palm Springs Art Centre.

I try to paint while on holidays and take a class or two, if possible.  This painting was started in the studio of Diane Morgan in Palm Desert, Calif.  It was from one of her photos that she shared with those at the studio.

Green Orchids

This is a painting I did at a Willy Wong workshop.  He always has a wide variety of subjects to paint and shows different techniques to use when you are working on your painting.  Great guy, lots of fun and extremely talented.  teaches art classes at the Seniors Centre in Edmonton.  Size of 17 x 20, framed.

                Red Poppies

In this painting, I was playing with 'alcohol ink'.  It is a media that is excellent for producing vibrant, untamed,paint-like forms which you then have to manipulate somehow, with a straw, brush, etc.  This is exciting to work with but you need to be quick!!  Adding different hues on top for shading, etc. really stirs up your creative juices.
